3 cups water
1/2 cup white wine
1/2 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup basil pesto
1 teaspoon minced garlic
4 cups dry whole wheat penne
1/2–3/4 cup shredded mozzarella
Fresh basil, to garnish
In a large skillet bring water, wine and cream to a boil.
Add the pesto, garlic and penne. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
Check to ensure pasta is tender. If not, let it simmer for another 5 minutes until the pasta has reached the desired consistency.
Top with cheese and basil.
