Rice is an essential ingredient to many dishes in our catalogue, and even our cutures. However, the same white rice isn’t always the best choice of rice. There are probably thousands of different kinds of grain out there, and that means more healthier options for cooking. Here is a list of some of my favorite kinds of rice, as well as what they’re good for.
- Black Rice: While more expensive than white rice, this particular grain is perfect for salads, and lunch-style bowls. Did You Know – Black rice was considered a forbidden grain in ancient China; only the aristocrats were allowed to each such a rich grain.
- Wild Rice: If you’re looking to lower your cholesterol, or to add a nutty taste to whatever you’re eating, this is a wonderful option!
- Miscellaneous Substitutions: grains like quinoa, couscous, and bulgar provide a healthy twist to an ordinary plate. Who knows! You might find yourself making your own dish with these delicious alternatives!
