Mami’s Meatballs


1/2 lb of ground beef

1/2 lb of ground turkey

1/2 sliced white onion

1/2 green and red bell pepper

2 Tbs of tomato paste

1/2 tsp of salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/2 Tsp of cumin and garlic

1/2 tsp of oregano

1/2 cup of seasoned breadcrumbs

1 egg

1 Tbs of olive oil


In a large bowl mix pork, beef, breadcrumbs, spices, egg,and mix with hands. Do not forget not to over do it as the meatballs will turn out tough.

Form 1/2 in balls with your hands. Wet your hands with cold water to prevent the meat from sticking on your hands

In a pan over medium high heat heat up the olive oil. Working with one batch at a time brown the meatballs and keep them on a hot plate

Saute your onions, peppers until onions begin to caramelize.

Dissolve, stirring, your tomato paste in a cup of of hot water. Pour over the onion & peppers. Add 1/2 cup water. Return your meatballs and lower the heat. Let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
